RECOVERY MECHANIC (KBO000177) vt    LOCATION    KUWAIT

Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Operates both conventional and flat bed tow vehicles, including driving, towing and backing trailers using safe driving skills. Perform preventive equipment maintenance. Maintain records and documentations. Performs minor roadside repairs to flat tires, dead batteries and vehicle malfunctions. Performs on-site repair or recovery in accordance with technical manuals, commercial manuals and safety/local policies. Also perform duties as a mechanic and/or other duties as needed. Available 24 hours a day.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
1. Performs road-side or on-site emergency troubleshooting and repairs on stalled vehicle, equipment and related accessories and, as needed, carries out the required recovery procedures to tow or transport the same to designated repair facility.
2. Performs all repair and recovery operations in accordance with technical manuals, commercial manuals, safety and relevant host-country regulations.
3. Recovers stalled vehicle or equipment using appropriate-commercial and military recovery vehicles and brings it over to designated commercial or government repair facility.
4. Recover overturned/mired vehicles or equipment.
5. Estimates lift load limit of wrecker to ensure the proper and safe operation of the vehicle; as required operates extendable boom for towing, or roll-back carrier winch for pulling vehicles or related-specialized equipment up onto the bed; straps vehicle onto roll back carrier or hooks them onto wheel-lift straps for towing.
6. Performs Battle Damage Assessments Repairs (BDAR).
7. Operate Wheeled/Tracked Recovery Vehicle, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE),
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Automotive repair tools, drills, presses, grinders, compressed air, personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel toed boots, hard hat and coveralls; wreckers and other tactical/commercial military equipment; computers, microsoft office software products, legacy software products as required, contractor program management software products as required and standard office equipment/machinery.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally conducted in a motor pool type of environment. However, duties may occasionally involve working outside with a potential exposure to extreme temperatures. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. Must comply with all installations policies and fire/safety regulations. Must be able to lift very heavy items with weight in excess of 50 pounds.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Automotive Maintenance Training (Military or Civilian equivalent). H8-Recovery certification (Military or Civilian equivalent). Must provide DD214 to verify Military service and training.

Experience: Approximately three (3) years as an automotive maintainer. One (1) year minimum experience as a recovery specialist.

License:
1. Must be able to obtain and maintain Kuwait heavy driver’s license
2. Must possess a valid US driver’s license (Commercial Preferred) or other internationally recognized driver’s license
3. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Military driver’s license

Skills:

1. Must possess ability to assess possible-damage risks to inoperable equipment while being towed or transported.
2. Must be able to safely and effectively operate hydraulic equipment and power winches.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Training Equipment Set Supervisor/Lead, performs the full range of field level maintenance on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline or multi-fuel. Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers and material handling equipment MHE) systems.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

1. Performs the full range of repair and modification work on heavy/light equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.
2. Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components
3. Service automotive electrical systems including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems.
4. Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
5. Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
6. Repairs, relines, replaces, and adjusts brakes.
7. Follows checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
8. Follows repair procedures, using charts, and technical manuals.
9. Tests and adjusts repaired systems to meet military performance specifications.
10. Troubleshoots and diagnoses hydraulic systems.
11. Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
12. Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally conducted in a shop environment; however, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

2. Apprenticeship in Light/Heavy Automobile Repair, Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred.
3. MOS 91B/H/S or equivalent military training preferred (DD 214 required to validate training).
4. A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Kuwait Heavy Driver’s License. Note: US driver’s license must be valid for at least 18-24 months after hiring date.
5. HAZMAT Handling/Transportation Training – desired.

Experience:
1. Approximately two (2) years experience as an electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems maintenance mechanic.
2. Approximately three (3) years of hands on experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with one year at field/sustainment maintenance level of maintenance.
3. Experience maintaining Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

Skills:
1. Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
2. Familiar with the use of military electronic or paper version technical manuals.
3. Ability to read, analyzes, understand and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, reports technical publications and documents.
4. The ability to troubleshoot, determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Welder (AFC000116) vt Location    Qatar

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Welder is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of government wheeled and tracked vehicles. Reports to the Vehicle Manager.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: Please list by order of priority and, if possible, provide the percentage of time spent on the activity all should equal 100%.

Identifies and completes both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on both tracked and wheeled vehicles in accordance with Military Technical Manuals and Local SOPs.
Determines exact nature and extent of repairs required and performs all repairs on internal combustion engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, braking systems and all related electrical, fuel, hydraulic, wheel and engine assemblies.
Uses diagnostic and specialized test equipment such as compression testers, multi-meters, motor analyzers and test benches to test, troubleshoot adjust, and repair equipment.
Tests, troubleshoots, adjusts and repairs electrical systems and components.
Reads and interprets electrical and hydraulic wiring diagrams.
Replaces or repairs unserviceable vehicle parts.
Writes SOPs and submits ideas for improvement.
Maintains tools and equipment and cleans work area.
Orders repair parts as required using military technical manuals.
Responsible for ensuring shop/work area adheres to ESH standards.
Performs other duties and assignments as assigned.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Automotive automated and hand tools, steam cleaning equipment, material handling equipment, electronic technical manuals on daily basis. Use of portable or vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally conducted in a shop environment with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions that may require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE). May be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire and Safety Regulations and published company work rules.

Valid Forklift/MHE certification.
Must be capable of obtaining a flight line driver’s license.
Must have and be capable of maintaining a valid U. S. SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
Must have color vision.
Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug testing, background checks, etc.
Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense training. Training includes the successful fit testing of DoD provided protective gear.

Experience:
A minimum of four years of documented experience in heavy equipment and/or construction vehicle repairs at either an established commercial repair facility, manufacturer facility, municipal and/or military facility.
Must possess knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles and repair relating to internal combustion engines (gas and diesel), electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and air systems applying to the repair, replace, fabricate, rebuild weld, and grinding of vehicles and vehicular equipment parts; methods of hoisting and handling heavy mechanisms; using lubricants, tools, and publications; supply procedures and computers; metal composition and metal working methods; using oxyacetylene, gas shielded, and electric welding equipment; using diagnostic equipment and associated software, on maintaining vehicles and vehicular equipment.

Skills:
Ability to use electronic technical manuals, trouble shoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic faults on military and civilian wheeled and track vehicles.
Good communication and supervisory skills.
Must be familiar with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.
Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements
Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred.
